The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation Limited (ANIIDCO) has invited applications for engagement of a Senior Consultant (Urban Planning / Design / Mobility Expert) on a part-time basis. The consultant will act as a technical adviser to ANIIDCO and the A&N Administration on projects being implemented under the guidance of the Government of India.

This is a senior advisory engagement, not an entry-level job. It suits a retired or practising urban planner with long experience. Applications must reach ANIIDCO by 28 September 2026, and the walk-in interview is on 30 September 2026 — in person at Sri Vijaya Puram or online through Google Meet.

Who Can Apply

You are eligible if you hold a Master’s degree in Urban Planning or Design and have at least 15 years of experience in the field. ANIIDCO is specifically looking for experience in:

Transit Oriented Development (TOD)
Mobility and transportation planning
Urban development across spatial planning and planning policy
Regulations, norms, guidelines, codes and enabling frameworks

The age limit is 62 years, which makes this engagement realistic for senior professionals and recent retirees from government or development agencies. Age and all other eligibility conditions are counted as on 28 September 2026, the last date for receipt of applications.

What the Work Involves

The Senior Consultant is a technical adviser rather than a project executive. The main responsibilities listed in the notification are:

Giving strategic advice and technical oversight so that project outputs stay consistent and of high quality
Flagging technical issues and risks that could affect project results
Reviewing baseline data, progress reports, project concepts, designs, strategies and frameworks
Supporting the preparation or revision of planning, design, engineering and monitoring frameworks
Guiding other consultants during implementation and reviewing their technical reports
Helping draft Terms of Reference for international and local consultants
Providing technical input on policies and regulations specific to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands
Leading presentations and meetings for ANIIDCO when required

Alongside domain expertise, ANIIDCO expects team leadership, experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams, prior work with the public sector or development agencies, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Pay, Tenure and Place of Posting

Payment is on a per-day basis, not a monthly salary. The rate is ₹15,000 to ₹45,000 for each 8-hour day of advisory service rendered. Travel and daily allowance, mode of journey, and reimbursement of hotel, taxi and food bills follow the rules applicable to Pay Level-12 and Pay Level-13 of the Pay Matrix.

The engagement runs for a fixed period of three years and can be extended one year at a time, up to a maximum tenure of five years.

On posting, the notification is flexible: the consultant may work from the mainland, but must travel to Sri Vijaya Puram or any other part of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as the work demands. That flexibility is what makes this engagement open to planners based anywhere in India.

Interviews are conducted on a first come, first served basis, so candidates joining online should connect on time and wait for their turn.

Four Points That Cost Candidates Their Application

Teaching, part-time, internship, self-employment and freelancing do not count as experience. This is stated plainly in the notification, and it is the condition most likely to cut short an otherwise strong 15-year claim.
The application must reach by 28 September, not merely be posted by then. Given the distance involved, email is the safer route.
No TA/DA is paid for attending the walk-in interview in person. If travel cost is a concern, use the Google Meet option.
Self-attested certificates must be enclosed with the application itself. Applications sent without proof of qualification and experience risk rejection at the shortlisting stage, since ANIIDCO reserves the right to shortlist on higher qualification and experience.

Final selection is also subject to verification of age, educational qualification and experience documents before joining, and the Corporation reserves the right to withdraw or cancel the selection process at any stage.
