Relaxation varies between departments and some posts allow none. Check the relaxation clause in your notification.
Why the Date Matters
Candidates are rejected every year over a few days. Someone who turns 29 a week after the closing date is eligible for a post with a 28-year limit; someone who turned 29 a week before it is not. The notification will say something like “age as on 28/09/2026” or “the crucial date for determining age shall be the last date prescribed for receipt of application”. Use that date in the box above, not today’s date.
A few recruitments count age as on a different date entirely — the first day of a month, or the date of the examination. Read the age clause before you calculate.
