Read the full qualification clause in the notification before you apply — minimum marks and the cut-off date for holding the qualification both matter.
How to Read a Qualification Clause
Three details decide whether your degree actually counts, and all three are easy to miss:
- The recognising body. Most notifications require a degree from a university recognised by the UGC or an institution recognised by the Government of India. A diploma from an unrecognised institute will not be accepted at document verification, however good the course was.
- The minimum marks. Where a notification says 55%, a 54.6% aggregate is a rejection — rounding up is not usually allowed unless the notification says so. Where marks are given as CGPA, the notification normally prints the equivalent, as the ZSI notice does with 5.5 on a 10-point scale.
- The cut-off date for holding it. Some recruitments require the qualification to be complete on the closing date; others accept final-year candidates pending results. If you are awaiting results, this single line decides whether you can apply at all.
