The A&N Administration has announced that the Revised Common Syllabus for the Combined Graduate Level examination for the posts of Junior Engineer in the Electricity Department and Junior Engineer (E&M) in APWD is available on the Administration’s e-recruitment portal from 25 September 2026, 11:00 AM.
This follows Vacancy Notice No. 4-12/2025-R&E Cell/382 dated 06 November 2025 for the Combined Graduate Level examination. The announcement comes from the Deputy Secretary (R&E).

Duration: 2 hours. Marking: 1 mark for a correct answer, minus 0.25 for a wrong answer, zero for unattempted.
Two things about this paper catch people out. The questions are set in English only — there is no Hindi paper, unlike the Matric and Higher Secondary level examinations. And 80 of the 100 marks are technical, so general studies preparation covers only a fifth of the paper.
What the Technical Section Covers
- Basic Electrical Engineering and Electrical Measurements — current, voltage, resistance, power and energy, units, Ohm’s law, electrical symbols, circuit laws and theorems
- Electro-Magnetic Induction — self and mutual inductance
- AC Fundamentals — instantaneous peak, RMS and average values, series and parallel AC circuits, analog and digital ammeters and voltmeters, wattmeter, multimeter, megger, low voltage transformers CT and PT
- Measurement and Measuring Instruments — moving coil and moving iron ammeters and voltmeters, extension of range, basic electronics
- Electrical Machines — DC motors and generators, characteristics, speed control and starting of DC motors, losses and efficiency, parallel operation of AC generators
