Who Can Apply for Industries Promotion Officer Recruitment 2026
Officers of the Central Government, State Governments, Union Territories, Public Sector Undertakings or Autonomous Organisations who meet one of these service conditions:
- Holding an analogous post on a regular basis, or
- 3 years’ regular service in a post in Level 6 (₹35,400 – 1,12,400), or
- 6 years’ regular service in a post in Level 5 (₹29,200 – 92,300) or equivalent
Educational Qualification
Essential — either of the following:
- Master’s Degree in Economics (with Statistics), Commerce (with Statistics), Mathematics (with Statistics) or Business Administration from a recognised University or equivalent
- Or a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised University in Economics (with Statistics), Mathematics (with Statistics), Accountancy or Statistics, together with a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management, Enterprise Resource Planning or Finance Management
Desirable — either of the following:
- 2 years’ experience in the promotion of Small Scale Industries
- Or 2 years’ experience in the collection, compilation, analysis and interpretation of statistical data relating to Cottage and Small Scale Industries
Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the competent authority for candidates who are otherwise well qualified. The experience requirement is separately relaxable for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes, for reasons recorded in writing, where enough candidates from those communities with the requisite experience are unlikely to be available.
What the Job Involves
- Promote industrial and entrepreneurial development across the islands
- Implement and monitor MSME schemes and programmes
- Guide entrepreneurs on Government schemes, registrations and incentives
- Coordinate with Government departments, banks and other stakeholders
- Organise awareness programmes and support Ease of Doing Business initiatives
- Carry out other duties assigned by the competent authority
Terms of Deputation
- Appointment follows the applicable Recruitment Rules and DoPT instructions as amended from time to time
- Initial deputation is for one year, extendable subject to administrative requirement and satisfactory performance, with total tenure not ordinarily exceeding three years
- The selected officer may choose either to have pay fixed in the deputation post, or to draw the pay of the parent post plus Deputation (Duty) Allowance
- Appointment is subject to vigilance clearance, integrity certificate and verification of service records
- An officer selected may not ordinarily withdraw after selection, and the lending authority must relieve them within one month of the appointment order

Three Points That Decide Your Application
- Incomplete applications and late applications will not be entertained. All three enclosures must travel with the form — an application missing the ACR copies is an incomplete one.
- Applications are not forwarded for employees against whom disciplinary or criminal cases are pending or being contemplated.
- Start the proper-channel process early. Vigilance clearance and five years of attested ACRs take time to assemble, and the 30-day window is counted to the date the application reaches the DIC.
