The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS) has announced changes to patient registration at G.B. Pant Hospital, Sri Vijaya Puram. The steps follow a recent visit to the hospital by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and are meant to cut waiting and improve patient flow.
Which Counter to Use
| Counter | Who it serves |
|---|---|
| Counter 1 | Inter-island referred patients, patients needing medical examination, pregnant women, dialysis patients, chemotherapy patients, and patients who have completed Online Registration |
| Counter 2 | Senior citizens, hospital staff, persons with disabilities and children |
| Counter 3 | New registration – female patients |
| Counter 4 | New registration – male patients |
| Counter 5 | Revisit – male patients |
| Counter 6 | Revisit – female patients |
ABHA at All Six Counters
All six registration counters have been enabled with ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) facilities. This allows digital identification and registration of patients and links their health records to the hospital’s Hospital Management Information System (HMIS), so records and queues can be managed more efficiently.
Patients are encouraged to visit the hospital with their ABHA cards. The hospital also has an Online Registration System (ORS), and patients who have completed online registration are served at Counter 1. The ORS is reached through the QR code printed on the ANIIMS press release.
Why This Matters
If you are travelling to Sri Vijaya Puram from another island for treatment, or accompanying a patient, knowing the counter in advance saves a long wait. ANIIMS describes the move as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen patient-centric services and improve access to healthcare facilities for the people of the islands.
