The notification was issued by the Office of the Director General of Police, Sri Vijaya Puram, vide Recruitment Notice No. A-12024/1/2024-RECRUITMENTCELLPHQ-POLICE_AN/284 dated 24 April 2026.
This is the biggest uniformed-service recruitment in the islands, and the largest single blocks are Constable (Executive) with 155 posts, Firemen (PC) in Fire Service with 77 posts, Radio Operator (ASI) with 71 posts and Constable (General Duty) in IRBn with 29 posts. Pay runs from Level 1 at Rs. 18,000 for Follower posts up to Level 6 at Rs. 35,400 for Sub-Inspector grades. Two things decide who gets in, and both are worth understanding before you prepare: the Physical Measurement and Endurance Test is only qualifying, so it earns you no marks, and your post preference is final the moment you submit — no change is entertained afterwards under any circumstances. Posts Open to Male Candidates Only
Applications for the following posts are invited from eligible male candidates only. Check this list before deciding your preferences:
Fire Service: Sub-Inspector (Station Officer), Firemen (PC), Police Constable (Driver)
Women candidates are specifically encouraged to apply against the remaining posts, and horizontal reservation for women applies in Constable (Executive) and Sub-Inspector (Executive).
Physical Measurement and Endurance Test (PM&ET) — scheduled and conducted by the A&N Police at different centres across the islands. Qualifying in nature only.
Written Examination — tablet or computer based, or sheet based, conducted by the A&N Police in English and / or Hindi only.
Trade Test — wherever applicable, conducted at centres in Sri Vijaya Puram.
Document Verification — after the above stages a list of qualified candidates along with a waiting list is published, and original documents and eligibility certificates are collected only from those candidates.
Final Result — declared by the Police Department on the basis of performance in the written examination and the trade test where applicable.
Appointment letters are issued in order of merit against each post, subject to vacancies. Note carefully that the PM&ET contributes nothing to your final score — it only decides whether you continue. Your rank comes from the written examination and, where applicable, the trade test.

Ex-Servicemen seeking reservation benefits must have their names registered with the Rajya Sainik Board of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
EWS and Meritorious Sports Person reservation applies as per guidelines issued by the Government and the A&N Administration from time to time.
