The Office of the Divisional Forest Officer (Nodal Officer, South Andaman District), Wimberlygunj, under the Department of Environment & Forests, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, invited online applications for 348 Group C posts — the Industrial post of Mazdoor (296 posts across ten forest divisions) and eight Group C Non-Ministerial technical posts under Mill Division, Chatham (52 posts). Candidates applying for these eight technical posts were allowed to select DCF, Mill Division technical posts while filling the online application. A grade-specific trade test for these posts will be conducted separately by the DCF, Mill Division, Chatham at a later stage, based on the merit list from this recruitment together with the preferences submitted by the applicant.
Age Limit
Age was reckoned as on the closing date, 29 April 2026. Date of birth is taken from the 10th pass certificate or birth certificate only — no other document is accepted for this purpose.

Selection Process — Physical Test
Selection is made through a Physical Test conducted in three levels. Candidates must furnish an undertaking (in the format prescribed by the District Nodal Officer) that they are physically fit and mentally sound to undertake the test. A candidate who fails any level is not given a second chance under any circumstances.
Level-I — Running Test
Male candidates must complete 10 km and female candidates 8 km. This level is for shortlisting: fifteen times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted, and a qualifying time will be fixed after the run so that the stipulated number of candidates covers the distance within it. The number to be shortlisted may be changed before the running test.
Level-II — Long Jump
Qualifying in nature, to be cleared within three attempts.

Level-III — Weight Carrying Test
Male candidates carry 30 kg and female candidates 20 kg over a distance of 500 metres. This level decides final selection. A qualifying time is fixed such that the notified number of vacancies plus 10% covers the distance within it, and the merit list is prepared on that basis. The merit list is drawn for the exact number of notified vacancies, along with a wait list limited to a maximum of 10% of the vacancies.
ST, OBC and EWS candidates selected on their own merit without relaxed standards are not adjusted against the reserved share; they are accommodated against general/unreserved vacancies according to their position in the overall merit list. Reserved vacancies are filled separately from among eligible ST and OBC candidates who are domiciled in the A&N Islands.
Tie-breaker
- The older candidate by date of birth gets preference.
- If still tied, alphabetical order of names, taking the first name into consideration.
Final appointment is made on the basis of merit in the Physical Test, verification of certificates and testimonials, character and antecedents, and medical examination. There is a probation period of 2 years, extendable if performance is not found satisfactory.

Applications received without the prescribed fee were not considered and were summarily rejected.
Certificates Required
Candidates claiming reserved vacancies or age relaxation must produce original certificates issued by the Competent Authority and submit self-attested copies when sought, failing which the claim is not entertained and the candidature is considered under General (UR).
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate based on income for FY 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25, issued on or after 01/04/2025 but not later than 29/04/2026.
- EWS Income & Assets certificate based on income for FY 2024-25, issued on or after 01/04/2025 but not later than 29/04/2026.
- ST / OBC certificate issued by a Revenue Authority competent within the jurisdiction of the A&N Administration.
- Meritorious Sports Persons certificate issued by the Competent Authority.
- Employment Registration certificate or card issued under the A&N Administration, showing the registration number.
- 10th pass certificate issued by CBSE or another recognised Board indicating date of birth. Provisional certificates are not entertained.
Candidates who fraudulently claim ST / OBC / EWS / MSP status are permanently debarred from recruitment examinations conducted by the Department of Environment & Forests, A&N Administration.
Admit Card for the Physical Test
Every candidate who applied before the closing date has been assigned a roll number. Admit cards will be published on the A&N eRecruitment portal around two weeks before the Level-I Physical Test, and candidates must download and print them themselves. The venue, date and time of the test will be announced on the portal, through the Department of Environment & Forests, in local newspapers, and by SMS.
A candidate who does not find their name in the uploaded list must contact the Nodal Officer (DFO, South Andaman) immediately at dfosa.recruitment@gmail.com with proof of having submitted the online application. Failure to do so forfeits any later claim for consideration.
Candidates must carry at least one photo identity proof in original — Driving Licence, Aadhaar Card, Voter Card, College or University ID, or Income Tax PAN — along with the downloaded admit card.
Important Conditions
- The number of vacancies shown is subject to variation.
- Candidature is provisional at every stage; the Department does not scrutinise eligibility in detail before the Physical Test.
- Departmental candidates also had to apply online, and must produce a No Objection Certificate from the Head of Department at the time of document verification.
- Shortlisted candidates are posted according to the chronological order of division preference given in the application and the availability of vacancies. No change of choice is allowed later.
- Name, date of birth, father’s name and mother’s name must match the Matriculation Certificate exactly, or the candidature is cancelled at document verification.
- Carrying a mobile phone or any electronic gadget inside the Physical Test premises — even switched off — leads to cancellation of candidature for up to 3 years.
- Where the English and Hindi versions of the notice differ, the English version is final and binding.
